Blue Sky Travel - the newest business in AfriKids’ social enterprise portfolio – promotes ethical tourism and immersive travel in northern Ghana. We want to develop its marketing strategy and products.

AfriKids is a charity operating in northern Ghana – it combines 22 programmes which tackle child rights abuses and extreme poverty. All the programmes in Ghana are developed and run by local people. AfriKids has a unique sustainability goal that will see the team in Ghana make the UK office redundant. AfriKids has a strong “anti-pity” stance which informs its fundraising approach and programme design. AfriKids’ inspires self-help and believes charity should not create dependency. A key part of its sustainability strategy is social enterprise - AfriKids has developed three businesses - these provide quality goods and services; promote local economic development and create local employment opportunities. Profits are used to support AfriKids’ charitable work. Blue Sky Travel is AfriKids’ newest social enterprise, established to promote ethical tourism in northern Ghana and develop new industry standards in Ghana’s Upper East Region. The Beyond Me team will work closely with Katie Arnold who leads Blue Sky in AfriKids’ London office. The project will involve developing new products and a marketing strategy that will enable AfriKids to realise growth and establish Blue Sky Travel as a recognised business within the ethical/green tourism industry.
