Help us find ways to recruit and retain an active group of volunteers who will change the lives of disabled children in London.

KEEN London is the only charity in the capital providing free, one-to-one supported sports and activities for children with disabilities. We run weekly sessions in Camden, Lambeth and Hackney giving children with the chance to take part in a range of activities including football, cricket, basketball, dancing, cycling and traditional playground games. At each session each child (or 'athlete') is paired with a trained volunteer coach. This means they can get the most fun possible out of their time at KEEN, and their parents can enjoy valuable respite time with the knowledge that their child is being cared for in a safe and supported environment. We also run external trips; midweek ten-pin-bowling sessions and two annual residential trips, giving many of our athletes the chance to stay away from home for the first time.

As KEEN London's sessions are free of charge, we rely on the time and generosity of volunteers to deliver our service. We have a dedicated team of long-standing senior coaches plus a pool of 450 volunteers. We have recently expanded to three centres and have a growing demand for our service which means that we are always looking to build our team of volunteers to deliver our unique one-to-one support.

We would like a BeyondMe team to devise a volunteer recruitment and retention strategy which will deliver a significant increase in the number of KEEN London volunteers. Currently, we recruit via Universities and student societies, as well as using volunteer and other recruitment websites e.g. Reach and Gumtree. We also use our own social media, and encourage our corporate partners to get involved. We are seeking fresh thinking in terms of marketing our offering to potential volunteers; new avenues to consider and an effective retention strategy to ensure our volunteers stay with us for longer.
