SHP supports some of London’s most vulnerable people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, through the provision of supported housing and community-based support services. We work with our clients to understand their psychological and emotional needs, to support them with their recovery and to enable them to develop the resources to live independently and achieve personally meaningful goals.
At any given time, our Camden & Islington Aftercare service supports 180 people from a range of backgrounds and experiences who have undergone treatment for substance misuse and/or are living in hostel ‘pathways’ towards independent living; the focus is on supporting clients into education, training and sustained employment.
To help them achieve their goal, we ask a BeyondMe team to consider offering:
• Employability training (e.g. CV/letter writing; interview skills; effective communication; team working; workplace protocol; customer service ;business or social enterprise start-up, etc.) in groups (as part of our ‘Fuchsia’ and ‘World of Work’ programmes)
• Financial Inclusion workshops where clients can learn about money and debt management; bank accounts (types/opening accounts/bank cards); the benefits of saving; financial services; and how to avoid fraud
• Mentoring/coaching clients on a one-to-one basis, including helping with CVs and cover letters and giving job hunting tips and in-work support. This would also possibly involve specific job coaching (for roles in admin, reception, etc.)
• Organising group visits or workshops to take place at the company’s offices
